It took a while as normal to get these two paintings finished. Both have been just about the entire color circle around on their way. They have gone to dead ends, they have been through turns and bumps and slopes and this shows on the surface with all it’s scratches and scars and under-painting peeking through.

It’s something with the recklessness in this approach which really appeals to me. It’s a unpredictable way of playing, with different palettes over a long period of time. The neutral grays act as calming and binding factors when I try to try to tidy this busy mess up.
