More exploring, third round.I wondered what it was I wanted to express in this series, and found that I want glow, but not burning glow, instead a subtle muted glow with some more clear pops of it here and there. So, today I really went crazy and sanded down before glazing the entire surface with a warm-white very thin glaze. Next move will be more sanding to bring back some of the gems 😊
Explore second round.Today I started the process of pushing these towards a higher key. I am very satisfied with the colors, texture and complexity in the underpainting now, so my next move is to try to simplify and to lighten this series. Comments are very appreciated =)
Clarifying, editing, checking values, checking shapes, colors, marks and pops of saturation. This painting has gone through some total transformations, it really is strange, I started a series of 7 landscapes a while ago, but as I’ve been working with glazing and sanding and glazing again to get depths and light into my work, it just said stop! I believe working with landscapes, even if abstracted, makes me very restrained and tensed in my approach, at least in the end it does. So this series will be high key and abstract instead! Here is the first one, still under progress but getting pretty close to finished I believe. All comments are very appreciated, may I ask for your first impression? Title so far: “HAVING A BALL”
GOING HIGH KEY AND GOING ABSTRACT, WHICH I HAVE BEEN MISSING A LOT
Exploring, I mean really exploring this time. I decided in a blink of a second that I wanted to go high key, it has been many mid-tone and darker landscapes lately, I wanted to go light and I wanted to go abstract! So, this is today’s total transformation of yesterday’s exploration. Also attaching some closeups. I feel much better now doing something drastic, comments are much appreciated
Just had to loosen up a bit today, so here is an explore stage painting, done on top of numerous play stages, and in a hurry because it was starting to rain Working title is: “IN THE LOOP”, acrylic on panel
This painting is almost finished, I love to play with these rectilinear shapes, houses can be so much, they can contain so much and say so much about the builder and mean so much for the viewer. The next moves on this painting will be to keep the values in check, and to add some more details, yet without loosing the looseness and atmosphere. A bit of tweaking and hopefully this one will soon be ready for framing.
