PLAY stage, encaustic under-painting.

PLAY

New paintings under the making, they will all be part of my encaustic experimentation. After gluing down white mixed media paper on plywood, I was ready for initial play with dry medium (charcoal, inctense pencils, contè crayons and pastel crayons, yes and a bit of water) Next step will include molten wax, excited to see what will happen. But first of all, there need to be cradles under the panels and all the edges need to be trimmed 🧐🙃🥰

The following pictures are enaustic on paper from a couple of days ago, not finished but they have a freshness to them that I like, will see what happens in the next session!

ENCAUSTIC continued

Second play on these, I’ve got my very first set of pan-pastels and I just had to try, this is a pearlescent white to black set, and the luster is more visible in real life. So far, the only wax paint is the white, the rest is powder and incised marks, a lot to explore and I truly love this medium!

GOING ENCAUSTIC

Hi dear followers and friends, I haven’t been posting for a long time because life happened, as it sometimes does. After quite some time of recuperating and reorienting into a new way of living I am now thankfully back painting. I am super thrilled to share with you that I have begun to explore the glorious mystery of encaustic. So far, this is clear: There will be melted a whole lot of wax on my deck this summer because this was even more exciting than I anticipated.

In the following I am sharing a small collection of what I have been working on so far, as always there is a lot to learn, a lot of tools and supplies to get hold of, and a lot of trying and failing. Here is a little taste of what I am talking about, and there will be much more to come.
